We always heard that every state has their own tradition of handling weddings. Indeed there are =)
Here in Sabah, the usual weddings are held according to their ancestors' tradition. The actual wedding celebration was supposed to be held for 7 days and 7 nights (I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON YOUR MIND RIGHT NOW) but due to work commitments and this and that, the wedding celebration was only held for 3 days and 3 nights. I was jaw-dropped myself when I heard their traditions of handling a wedding.
Very, very impressive. I must say! =D
So, the wedding journey kicked off with 5 groups who flied with 5 different flights, some in different days. Most of us were the first timers to Sabah so we got a little bit, NO. We got too sakai with everything. Haha!
Wednesday, May 11th.
The big brother took a night flight to Sabah right after work since he got to check and rehearse everything. He flied to Sabah earlier a week too, just to check on all the preparations made.
Thursday, May12th.
Mummy, Daddy, Aunty, Kak Ida's brother, Bang Un and I myself took the first family flight to Sabah. Flight time was nicely at 8.30 or so, but still mummy's too excited about it that she asked me to rise at pfft, 5 -___- Never say that we packed light, we never did and we never will! Hahaha. My family brought along together 4 luggages and 2 boxes. Aunty brought 3 luggages and 5 boxes. Altogether..
Shall we see your maths skills? ;)
The boxes weren't filled with our clothes or whatever, it were all the stuffs for decorating the hantarans with some goodies such as the infamous kuih lapis, lemangs and all sorts of other gifts to be given to the in laws and their families. Daddy's younger brother took us from home while Uncle's driver sent Aunty and Bang Un to the airport. As soon as we arrived, scanned all the ridiculous amount of luggages and boxes that we brought, did the self check-in which I found it hilariously weird haha, and straight to the boarding area. Safely off from the KIA's base and I swear my stomach was jamming jazz songs haha. I was uncontrollably hungry and my eyes screamed the lungs out asking to shut. So I had my breakfast and doze off.
LIKE A BOSS.. Hahahahahaha.
I didn't really get to see the views from above until some bloody turbulence woke me up. Then daddy said we're on top of..Brunei? I have absolutely no idea how did he knew that we're on top of other country but it was actually visible from the plane. You got to see all the tiny little islands and fascinating corals too! Didn't took any pictures hihi, because unfortunately my camera was inside the other bag on the compartment area and I simply have no idea how to turn my phone to the airplane mode. Not to mention that even if I successfully did turn on my phone to the airplane mode, I'm just scared that the mode didn't work and the worst case scenario follows.
I. DON'T. WANT. TO. BE. SUED. BY. THE. GOVERNMENT. I'M. JUST. 18! Haha.
Arrived at the beautiful beautiful KKIA which located just beside the seaaaaaa! It was so beauuuutifullll I was speechless. The sea is sooooo blueeeeeeee and the water is sooooo clearrrrrrr. It that instantly made me wondered why the seawater in Kuching isn't blue o.O While we were waiting for the luggages to be brought in, mummy suddenly threw me her handbag and ran towards the lavatory. I was likeeee, oh, nature's call.. Then a moment after she went out my aunty rushed in. Then daddy.
After final checking all the luggages and boxes we head out and wait for Kak Suzy's parents to pick us up together with big brother and Kak Suzy. Bang Un and I followed big brother while the rest followed Kak Suzy's parents. We headed to the place where we're going to live for that 5 days trip that Kak Suzy's family had provided for us.
1Borneo Apartments, Tower B! Apartment with two rooms, two toilets and a mini bar. Well-furnished, very cosy. Just nice to accomodate a group of SIXTEEN T_T
Stepped my foot into the apartment I was..
Halfway dead -_____________________________-
I was sooooooooooooooo tired I could sleep like a 4 year old kiddo and nothing can wake me up neither screams nor bombs.
Mummy let me to have some rest and took a nice bath before she and aunty dragged me down for groceries shopping. What do you expect lah kan. 5 days with 16 people in one apartment, surely needs some refreshments and titbits all the time for the gossip sessions and late night brunch session. There's this hee-uge Giant store at 1B and I thanked God so much for the existence of that store. So that i wouldn't be dragged too far. Hahaha!
I have no idea what were we doing at the furniture and bedding section, but I bet we're searching for extra blankets. The two of the ladies did most of the shopping while I'm just following wherever they went and pushed the trolley all the way round. Luckily I found Nutella there and that was the only thing I need -___-
We went to the bridesmaid's house for the first time during the night since they'll be having a meeting regarding the big day with a dinner.
Aunty, Mummy.
While they were having the meeting, Kak Suzy honoured me to be the first from the groom's family to take a good look at all the hantarans. Hantarans were side gifts that both sides have to give to each other. It is like, from groom to bride and vice versa. Hantarans can be perfumes, clothes, heels, anything you want actually. Hantarans amount must be in odd number, strictly forbidden in even numbers which I have no idea why really. Groom's side gave away 9 trays, while the bridesmaid's side replied with 11. Another tradition of theirs is that the number hantarans from groom's side must never exceed the number of hantarans from the bridesmaid's side.
Unfinished actually, and some of the gifts are the groom's.
Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Most of the time I was in the couple's room touching things up without even bothering on what was going on outside. Then mummy and Aunty came in with the rest to catch a glimpse on the hantarans.
We then went out and hihihihi I met this uber cuteeee baby!
YOU SEE. YOU SEEEEEEEEEEEE.
LOOK AT THOSE CHEEKS HOMAIGOD I CAN FAINT THIS INSTANT. Haha
I can't really recall what's his name but if I ain't mistaken, Ashraf I think? Hehe.
So we then proceed to the dinner and..
Family pictureeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Headed back to apartment and phew what a day.
